Northern Neck Update May 2010

Here it is the first of May, we have warm weather, and it is time for things to really kick-off here in the Northern Neck. Some May events are to your right. I usually don't give a link that leads readers away from my newsletter but I am this time. One of the events, The Menokin Musical Festival, is an event that you might want to attend if you haven't been before. The cost is reasonable, there is good food, lots of music, and the proceeds go to help preserve some of our Northern Neck history. Menokin was the home of patriot Francis Lightfoot Lee, a signer of the Declaration of Independence.
Now for the real estate part of this Northern Neck Update. A piece of good news I read in the Richmond paper this morning is that the Virginia housing market is improving. Something especially encouraging to me, since so many of many clients are from the Northern Virginia area, is that the median price in NVA rose 12.6 percent from this time last year.

  • Common Buyer Fears
  • Top 10 Tips for Staging a Home
Plus a roundup of April real estate activity as well as much more advice and information.
I hope you enjoy this monthly newsletter. If you have any comments, please e-mail them to me. Or, if you would like to see a certain topic covered in future months, let me know that too!
One last note. In the past the Northern Neck has always been a little behind Northern Virginia. Although the prices have risen by 12.6% in Northern Virginia that has not happened here yet. Sales might be on the rise but prices aren't as of yet. There is still a lot of inventory and a buyer's market so I hope you continue to search the Northern Neck MLS.
Well am going to go wake up my grandson and head over to the Farmer's Market in Irvington then I think we'll put out some crab pots.
