The largest industry in the Northern Neck is certainly fishing.

In this picture to the left are Omega Protein’s boats and one independent.

Have you ever heard of Omega 3? Well that is one of the byproducts that come from the menhaden fish that these boats are after.

This picture was taken off of Smith Point just below the mouth of the Potomac River.

I love it this time of year when you see the boats move off of Smith Point. It means that there is plenty of bait in the Chesapeake Bay and it won’t be long before those BIG migrating rockfish (stripe bass) will be in here feeding.
