Northern Neck Real Estate

usually have this newsletter written by the first of the month but I am really behind this month with work and play.

September was a busy month with people coming out and taking advantage of the market. Some great deals were had.

I don’t know what my favorite time of the year is but I do like the fall.

As most of you know I was a commercial waterman before I became a realtor. Well October always marks the first day of oyster season. I guess it is a ritual or something because I always have to go.

I went both Monday and Tuesday mornings. I caught 4 bushels Monday and 5 Tuesday. I thought that was pretty good for a man almost 60 especially with so few oysters and the younger men not doing any better.

I’ll tell you this though. Here it is Thursday, Oct. 4 (first day of rock fish season) and I still ache but I’m not going to let the younger boys know that.

I still encourage you to be searching the Northern Neck MLS and if you see something of interest make an offer. The offer might get accepted making a good deal even better.

This link, Featured Property, will show 2 properties I have listed.

One is a 70’s rancher with deep sailboat depth water. Although the inside has not had any updates the house has curb appeal. When you consider the price of a waterfront lot with deep sailboat depth water (it’s up there), pier with 8 ton lift, heated swimming pool, well, and septic system then the 2200 square foot home is going for a fraction of the square foot building cost.

The other is a waterfront lot that would accommodate most small power boats up to 20 feet and some up to 24. It has over 300’ of waterfront, the view is outstanding, and there is a community water system so the cost of a well is eliminated.

My October Real Estate News Update  is full of interesting and useful information that I think you will enjoy whether you are a buyer, seller, homeowner, or renter.
This month's issue includes topics such as:
  • Pricing as Much Art as Science
  • Back To Basic Home Buying Skills
  • Nailing Down Housing Costs
  • It's A Good Time For A Home Inspection
Plus a roundup of September real estate activity as well as much more advice and information
I hope you enjoy this monthly newsletter. If you have any comments, please e-mail them to me. Or, if you would like to see a certain topic covered in future months, let me know that too!
