As
most of you know I was a commercial watermen before I became a realtor. I've
held on to my commercial license and from time to time I go play on the water.
It can only be called play because I don't do enough of it to be considered
commercial. |
| Several times this
year I have put out a few crab pots. I usually fish them 3 or 4 times a week.
That gives me enough to eat, a few to give away, and if I'm lucky enough a few
to sell so that I can try to make my expenses. |
| A couple of weeks ago
I put out 50 crab pots. The first week I fished them every 2 or 3 days and when
I sold them I had as low was $22 and as high as $48. It's hard to get a good fix
on where the crabs are moving if you don't crab every day so this week I tried
to go every morning. I usually leave around 6 and I'm usually back by 8:30 or 9.

While I was crabbing Monday my daughter
called and asked what I was doing. I told her that Saturday I started
moving some crab pots around and I was doing that again today. I told
her that my goal was to sell $70 worth crabs a day and that way I could
have $50 walking around money everyday. When I sold my crabs Monday I
had $68 so I was getting close to my goal and maybe I would reach it
after moving a few more pots. Yesterday, Tuesday, I had $117 worth of
crabs. I was so happy you would of thought I had sold a million dollar
piece of property. |

| I don't
know how often you check the Northern Neck MLS but if you will log on to
your account
you'll notice that there are some good deals out there.

| With the
summer season almost over they are going to be some sellers that will
really be motivated. |
